The Bible clearly says that everything was created in six literal days, but some people say that the days were actually millions or billions of years, is that possible? The order of creation provides us with the answer. We can tell from looking at the sequence in which God created everything that there were not long ages in-between each creation. Plant life, flowers and trees were created on day 3. But birds were not created until day 5, and land animals and insects not until day 6. We know, from modern science, that plants are dependent upon birds, insects and land animals to live and reproduce. This relationship is called symbiosis. That’s a fancy word that means that they depend upon each other to live. Neither can live without the other. Plants couldn’t live millions or billions of years before birds, insects or animals. But if God created plants only a couple of days earlier, that’s no problem. So to answer the question,” is it possible for the six days to be long periods of time,” the answer is no, it’s not possible.
