The theory of evolution is bad science and just plain foolish, so why do we teach it to our children as fact? When you talk about evolution it is important to first define “evolution”. The definition of evolution is more slippery than the inside of a carnivorous Nepenthes pitcher plant, (trust me, that’s slippery!) Its so hard to nail down scientists about evolution because they want you to be confused. They want to include things like natural selection under the umbrella of evolution. They want to because natural selection is real, and we can observe it, confirm it with science. But natural selection is the opposite of evolution, already present information is being selected, not added. When I say “evolution” I am talking about the primordial soup, microbes to man, goo to you evolution. The theory that all life on earth evolved from a simple, and perhaps the same, single-celled organism. This evolution is pure conjecture, pie in the sky speculation, absolute “captain the Klingons are uncloaking” science fiction. It was a proposed in a simpler time when we did not understand the complexities of life. It is impossible chemically, genetically and mathematically. Impossible, in case you were wondering, means that it cannot happen, not now, not in a million, billion or trillion years. All the nonsensical bloviation that “over eons of time anything can happen” is just that, nonsense. Impossible means it can’t happen, ever.
What makes this entire thing even more insidious is that scientists know this. They know that that evolution is a nonviable theory. I would speculate that the vast majority of scientists would agree with me if they could. The problem is that they can’t. The business of Science is very political. Most scientists have little to nothing to do with evolution because after all, it’s not science. They keep their mouth shut to avoid being attacked, ostracized and brutally pilloried. So why is evolution so sacrosanct, so theologized? Simple, even Charles Darwin knew that the only alternative to evolution was the supernatural explanation, the Creation account in Genesis. Our schools teach this harebrained evolution theory as fact because, if they taught our bright young people in schools the truth, students might conclude that evolution is just bad science. It is time for us Christians to stop being the silent majority. We need to put our collective foot down and insist that this lousy science not be taught to our children as fact. We need to tell people “creation happened, just like it says in Genesis, get over it!”
